Mombasa / Diani - Tsavo East National Park - Return
Your day begins with an early morning pick-up from your hotel or residence in Mombasa or Diani, followed by a drive to Tsavo East National Park. You will arrive at the park in the morning, an ideal time for wildlife viewing when animals are most active. Begin your game drive through the vast open plains, where you may spot elephants, lions, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, and various antelope species. The park is especially known for its "red elephants," colored by the region's distinctive red soil. Enjoy the scenic beauty of the savannah dotted with baobab trees and acacia woodlands, with excellent opportunities for photography.
Mid-morning, you will visit Aruba Dam, a popular water source that attracts a high concentration of wildlife. Here, you may observe herds of elephants and buffalo gathering to drink, as well as hippos and crocodiles along the water's edge. Predators such as lions or leopards may also be spotted nearby, making this one of the best locations for wildlife viewing within the park.
Thereafter, proceed toward the scenic Galana River, which flows through the heart of Tsavo's wilderness. Enjoy views of crocodiles basking on the riverbanks and hippos in the water, along with the striking contrast of the river cutting through the red-earth landscape. You will have lunch at a safari lodge overlooking the river or nearby plains, offering a relaxing break surrounded by nature.
In the afternoon, continue with a game drive exploring different sections of the park, giving you another opportunity to spot wildlife as animals begin moving toward water sources.
Later in the day, exit the park and begin your return journey to your hotel or residence, arriving in the early evening, marking the end of a memorable full-day safari experience.
