Your day begins with an early morning pick-up from your beach hotel or residence in Diani or Mombasa, followed by a scenic drive south toward the historic fishing village of Shimoni, located near the Kenya-Tanzania border. Upon arrival, you will board a traditional dhow boat and set sail across the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean, enjoying refreshing ocean breezes and stunning coastal views, with a high chance of spotting dolphins along the way.
You will then proceed to the beautiful Kisite-Mpunguti Marine National Park, one of Kenya's most renowned marine conservation areas. Here, you will enjoy guided snorkeling in warm, crystal-clear waters surrounded by vibrant coral reefs and a variety of tropical fish. The calm and protected waters make it suitable for both beginners and experienced swimmers, offering one of the best snorkeling experiences along the Kenyan coast.
After your marine adventure, sail to Wasini Island for a delicious Swahili-style seafood lunch served at a local oceanfront restaurant. Enjoy freshly prepared dishes such as fish, prawns, and crab accompanied by coconut rice and local sides, with vegetarian options available upon request. After lunch, you may take a short walk through the village to experience the authentic Swahili coastal lifestyle and relaxed island atmosphere.
In the afternoon, return to the mainland and visit the historic Shimoni Slave Caves. During a guided tour, you will learn about the caves' role in the East African slave trade, explore the natural coral formations, and gain deeper insight into the region's history and heritage.
Thereafter, begin your journey back to your hotel in Diani or Mombasa, arriving in the early evening, marking the end of a memorable and well-balanced coastal experience.
