Mombasa / Diani - Shimba Hills - Sheldrick Falls - Diani Beach - Return
Your day begins with an early morning pick-up from your hotel or residence in Mombasa or Diani, followed by a scenic drive south toward Shimba Hills National Reserve. Upon arrival, you will embark on a guided game drive through this unique coastal rainforest reserve, known for its lush greenery and cooler climate. During the drive, you may spot elephants, giraffes, buffalo, and the rare sable antelope, along with a variety of birdlife and butterflies. The rolling landscapes and viewpoints overlooking the coastline offer excellent photography opportunities and a peaceful alternative to the savannah parks.
Mid-morning, you will proceed for a guided nature hike to Sheldrick Falls. The walk takes approximately 20-30 minutes each way through forested trails, where your guide will share insights about the local flora and fauna. At the falls, you will enjoy views of the 21-meter cascade flowing into a natural pool, with time for photography and an optional refreshing swim in this serene environment. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended as sections of the trail may be slightly steep or slippery.
After the hike, you will head to the beautiful Diani Beach for relaxation. Spend your afternoon enjoying the soft white sands and turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean. You will have free time to relax, swim, or take part in optional activities such as jet skiing, snorkeling, dhow rides, or camel rides along the shore. A late lunch can be enjoyed at a beachfront restaurant at your own cost, offering a selection of fresh seafood, Swahili dishes, and continental options.
In the late afternoon, begin your return journey to your hotel or residence, arriving in the early evening, marking the end of a well-balanced day combining safari adventure, nature exploration, and coastal leisure.
